Partnering with Certas Energy to deliver sustainable liquid fuel at Birmingham’s Tyseley Energy Park

TEP is committed to delivering low- and zero-carbon transport, alongside other power, heat, waste and recycling projects, and we’re proud to have contributed our skill to the development of the Refuelling Hub.
As the UK’s first multi-fuel, open access, low- and zero-carbon refuelling station, the Refuelling Hub shows that commercial and environmental interests need not be mutually exclusive. TEP is fully up and running, receiving commercial fleet, public transport fleet and private vehicles!
As we move closer to the target of Net Zero by 2050, we know that more and more companies will chose to add low- and zero-carbon fuel and energy options to their truckstops and refuelling stations, and the development at Tyseley shows us just what is possible.
Working with Certas Energy, we are proud to have designed, manufactured and installed the Shell GTL refuelling point. This refuelling facility is the second of its kind in the UK to dispense Shell GTL, a drop-in alternative to diesel for on-road and off-road applications.
Shell GLT fuel burns cleaner than traditional crude oil-based diesel as it emits less harmful pollutants, such as nitrogen oxides (NOx). Not only that, Shell GTL comes with extra performance benefits for vehicles operating in urban areas, including reduced fuel odours and engine noise, ideal for the bustling city of Birmingham.
In addition to the GTL storage & dispensing unit, the refuelling hub includes hydrogen, compressed natural gas and electrical vehicle charging options. The unmanned facility is available 24/7 for refuelling with integrated pay at pump options that accept credit, debit and fuel card payments.
With the completion of the entire project, TEP is now the UK's first multi-fuel, open access, low- and zero-carbon refuelling station, and is an industry example, striving towards net zero to achieve a brighter future.
