Setting standards for Oil Storage

Oil Tank Supplies (OTS) of Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestshire will be showcasing a mobile fuel quality test laboratory at the forthcoming FPS Expo 2012.

Storage tanks for fuel

The emphasis this year will be tank maintenance and fuel quality monitoring. Video presentations will highlight the company’s design and build capability. Recent projects include fuel oil distribution centres, several large scale fuelling facilities for transport operations and a harbour installation for fuelling sea going ferries.

OTS has also supplied its first BioTank, which has been installed for a national distribution chain specialising in chilled produce. Basically a standard diesel storage tank, the BioTank is fitted with a conditioning pack designed to prevent the build up of microbial contamination. Effectively this is a self cleansing capability to preserve the pristine quality of the wet-stock – as delivered from the refinery.

“We are expecting a lot of interest in the area of fuel cleansing and treatment procedures for bio fuels,” says OTS sales director Steve Gain.
“The move towards higher percentage biofuel contents has necessitated more stringent hygiene in oil storage facilities. Water contamination can very quickly lead to the rapid deterioration in fuel quality.”

A demonstration of diesel filtration will be centre piece of the OTS stand at the FPS show. This will be supported by specialists from the TankCare Division to discuss the need for fuel quality monitoring and tank hygiene.
