Voice your opinion on switching to Low Carbon Fuels

On the 7th of February the UK Government launched a national invitation for members of the public to have their say in the new Low Carbon Fuels Strategy.

"Low carbon fuels (LCFs) have been instrumental in reducing the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions for more than a decade." stated the Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP.

Transport is one area in which LCFs are critical to ensuring the UK achieves net zero by 2050. As a result, the Government have laid out a Transport Decarbonisation Plan, designed to harness "the full potential of LCFs to grow domestic industry and jobs" outlined Shapps.

Whilst there has been considerable progress made towards adopting LCFs such as HVO in the transport sector, summarised in the Department for Transport's recent Low Carbon Fuels Strategy document, the feat is not over yet. The Department for Transport anticipates future challenges in transitioning over to LCFs within multiple industries, including road and off-road machinery, aviation and maritime. - This is where the public's opinion is wanted, as the Government is “calling on industry and stakeholders to help shape that strategy”.

“Your responses will help us get it right" stated Shapps, who went on to issue "an invitation to share your views through workshop discussions, and written submissions, which we hope will stimulate productive conversations".

The consultation will run until 11:45 on the 3 April 2022, so make sure you submit your response before then!
