Maple Lodge Sewerage Treatment Works gets a new Bunded Tank
The site had suffered a significant leak on the underground fuel line feeding the boiler systems. The fuel is used as a back-up to the gas supply to the boilers, as such Thames Water were able to stop using the tank and pipework once they discovered the extent of the leak.

Due to the fact the this had become a high-profile job because the Environment Agency were notified of the leak and contamination, there was a lot of emphasis on the control measures that would be put in place to prevent a recurrence of the leak.
OTS tendered against other contractors to supply and install a replacement circa 50,000 litre fuel tank with access ladder and gantry, fuel supply pipework, interlocking valves and all associated equipment. Thames Water insisted that the fully enclosed bunded tank be installed within a second concrete bund and that the feed pipework be installed within a fluid tight trench that ran from the tank to the intake position of the Boiler House. This part of the work was carried out by other contractors working for our client Knowlton & Newman.
