Shaun's Background and Approach to Leadership
Shaun's strong technical background, sales expertise, and enthusiasm form a trifecta of excellence that makes him a valuable addition to our team. As he told us, "My role is to bring not only the sales side to the table, but also my fuel management experience. The industry is evolving rapidly, and I’m excited to be joining a robust team of like-minded individuals, well-equipped to stay at the forefront of this change."
As a 50-year-old company, OTS has a rich history. However, we are not resting on our laurels. We are diversifying into new markets, expanding our horizons, and adopting the latest technologies to keep pace with industry evolution. Shaun's addition comes at a pivotal moment for us as we work to become known as a one-stop solution for our customers.
Proactivity and Technology as Change Agents
Shaun's strategy revolves around efficiency and enabling the free flow of information, from marketing to manufacturing. Additionally, he recognises the shift that OTS are making from being reactive to becoming proactive. "Historically, companies in the industry are generally reactive," he explains. " Moving forwards, we are aiming to understand exactly what our customers need, anticipate those needs, and offer additional services they might not even know we provide."
The key to this approach is visibility, and the effective use of technology. By harnessing the power of technology, we will be able to provide insight into every step of the process, from initial contact through to aftercare. This holistic approach will enhance our ability to serve our clients better and enable us to deliver a range of products and services more efficiently.
A Shift in OTS Strategy and Services
Embracing Efficient Collaboration with CRM Systems
As part of OTS’ 2023 Strategic Growth Plan, and driven by Managing Director Steve Gain, we have recently updated our internal systems and processes in order to help drive growth and improve customer care. As Shaun explains, he is “excited to be joining the company at a time of growth and development.” Shaun is passionate about the power of collaboration, facilitated by up-to-date sales and customer relationship management systems, and cohesive teamwork. The new systems provide visibility across the company and will allow us to better align our operations and sales cycle.
"Each one of us brings a different element to the sales side," Shaun notes, "Working with the latest in CRM technology, we can each contribute to every part of the sales cycle, creating a more efficient, well-rounded process that benefits both us and our customers."
From Tank Manufacturing to a Wide Range of Solutions
In this new era, we are also looking to challenge the misconceptions about OTS. "People have this idea that OTS only does tanks, and that's certainly not the case," Shaun explains. "We manufacture tanks, but the industry evolves, and so do we." This evolution means constantly expanding our range of products and services and adapting to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients.
For example, to better deliver on our clients’ needs, we are focusing on expanding our "Planned Preventative Maintenance" (PPM) business. PPM is a proactive approach to client servicing that allows us to foresee and prevent issues for our customers, providing a value-added service that not only solves problems but also prevents them from arising in the first place.
Shaun is enthusiastic about the future and believes that technology will be instrumental in OTS' growth. "We're going to use technology to show our customers how our products and services are performing, and what we can do to optimise them. I believe that using technology is key, and that's why it's such an exciting time to join the company," he shares.
With Shaun on board, OTS is ready to not only meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving industry, but to embrace the changes and leverage them for our growth and the satisfaction of our customers. As we venture into this exciting new era, we look forward to serving our clients with renewed energy, vision, and a proactive approach.
